The Commedia dell'Arte has been at the root of much of Markmark's work over the past 10 years. We owe a great debt to the travelling Harlequinos and Pantelones who roamed rennaisance Italy. From them we learn to improvise and structure comedy, to laugh at our pompous neighbours who are, in turn, laughing at us.
 
These workshops explore comedy through the characters of the Commedia and their situations.
 
We also look at ‘lazzi’ the comic, routines of the Commedia, and how we can create a new commedic language.
